Vernacular name in Pakistan is : Uqab but is also known as asian golden eagle of Himalyan golden eagle.
Golden eagle is one of the best known specie of birds of prey and is widely distributed in the boreal region. It is also found in the northern parts of Pakistan and is known for its strength and vigour. It usually builds nests at cliffs and are monogamous. Clutch size is four. Due to its high hunting power it has been considered as a symbol of honour. It has a large wingspan which accounts as fifth largest among all living eagle species. Body size ranges from 26-40 inches. They are also known as best fliers among raptor bird species. Their life is usually long in natural conditions and has been observed more than 30 years.
